History

          In 1976, women were frequently excluded from the private lunch clubs and speaker groups.  In an effort to gain access to leaders and current issues, 13 rather feisty and forward-thinking women created their own organization and named it the Columbus Metropolitan Club. 

          From the beginning, they included and actively recruited members from all walks of life - men, women, all races, religions, and ages.  Their club and speakers would be open to everyone and provide meaningful dialogue and exchange of information and ideas to any and all residents in Central Ohio who were interested. 

          Diversity, discussion, debate continue to motivate our efforts and create a unique opportunity for community conversation.
