Following the September 2017 announcement that the Pittsburgh-Columbus-Chicago route was named one of the 10 finalists in the Hyperloop One Global Challenge, the great question was, "Is this really going to happen?" In March, MORPC announced it would be undertaking a $2 million study to research potential "rapid-speed" transportation options linking the three cities, including a feasibility study for Hyperloop.

So, where does Columbus and Hyperloop stand now? Beyond the promise of a 30 minute journey from Columbus to Chicago, most questions are still unanswered as the technology is developed and strategies are fleshed out.

CMC will welcome Dan Katz, Director of Global Public Policy & North American Projects, Virgin Hyperloop One, Ferzan Ahmed, Vice President, AECOM (the company completing the feasibility study), Thea Walsh, Director of Transportation Systems & Funding, MORPC, and host Jolene Molitoris, President/CEO, Molitoris Associates, and former Director, Ohio Department of Transportation.

In partnership with: MORPC, League of Women Voters

Regular Entree: Pan seared tasso chicken with marble potatoes and asparagus. Served with a garden salad.

CMC and OhioHealth present: Our Healthy Community

No one should live in Denial, Ohio. That's the message the Ohio Opioid Education Alliance (OOEA) is trying to get across in a multi-million dollar advertising campaign that will run through 2019. The OOEA is a public-private partnership made up of 14 corporations, non-profit organizations, and government bodies who are dedicated to tackling the opioid crisis facing Ohio.

The common frustration among Ohioans is that something must be done about the opioid epidemic, but what? With drug overdose deaths in Franklin County rising 47% in 2017 over 2016, Central Ohio is feeling the pressure.

CMC will host a panel discussion focusing on where Ohio currently stands in its fight against opioid addiction and what hope is on the horizon, featuring Chad Jester, president of the Nationwide Foundation, one of the founding organizations of the OOEA, and front-line advocates Shawn Holt, President & CEO of Maryhaven Inc., David Royer, CEO of the Alcohol, Drug and Mental Health Board of Franklin County (ADAMH), and Columbus Firefighter Tiffanie Paige.

Series sponsored by: OhioHealth and Mount Carmel Health System

Regular Entree: Port braised short rib with polenta and grilled haricot vert. Served with a garden salad.

West, to discuss his latest book, The Future of Work: Robots, AI, and Automation.
